I was extremely excited and proud to have been shortlisted for a Law Society Excellence Award in the category of Sole Practitioner of the year 2018.
On Wednesday 17th October 2018, Tony Wicks (RELA’s Business Manager) and I attended the awards ceremony in London with hundreds of Lawyers from all of over the UK. Unfortunately we were not successful this time, however it was a fantastic event and an honour to be shortlisted with some really amazing professionals.
I certainly came away from the event feeling positive, invigorated and now have a plan of action as to how we can improve and do even better next year. Most of all however it enabled a period of reflection and to look back at all we have achieved as a business over the last 5 years.
It is 5 years on the 1st November 2018 since I was granted authorisation from the Solicitors Regulation Authority to start the firm and we have grown in that time from just myself working part-time from home, fitting work around my son (who was 6 months at the time) to employing 3 others and a new full time Solicitor joining us in early January 2019. We have also worked with (and continue to work with) some really fantastic businesses and made many friends in the local business community in that time. Clearly a lot to reflect on!!!
If ever you are thinking twice about applying for an award nomination or attending an event like this in your own profession I would say that it is well worth the investment if only to reflect and realise all that you have achieved.
